There has been an increase in phishing scams targeting urgent care providers. Typically, the criminal entity will send a request for sensitive info about a provider “to facilitate payment” on a recognized third party payer letter head that the urgent care center does business with. The letter is usually sent to the provider or their business manager. This info is then used by the criminal entity to place false claims for payment.
